Gunna and the Black Music Action Coalition (BMAC) have announced a $500,000 initiative that will see 30 families in the South Fulton area of Georgia being given access to a monthly stipend of $1,000.
Billed as the Gunna x BMAC 30349 Guaranteed Income Program, the initiative will provide the money to select families who live inside the 30349 area code as part of a larger effort to show the power of “collaboration and innovation” at the local level. In a statement, Khalid Kamau, Mayor of South Fulton, said the program marked “a transformative step” for the city.
“I am proud to support this initiative and look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on the families in our community,” Kamau said Tuesday.
A launch date has been set for Sept. 18. Selected families will receive guaranteed monthly income for a year, all while also having access to various support services being offered as part of the program. In his own statement, Gunna, whose philanthropic efforts have long been on display with his holiday-timed Gunna’s Great Giveaway events, said on Tuesday that the income initiative is similarly inspired by a desire to “uplift” where he’s from.
“Partnering with BMAC to introduce the Guaranteed Income Program in South Fulton is a significant step toward enhancing these communities and transforming the economic landscape of the city,” he added.

In July, Gunna spoke with Complex about what he considers the “best show” on his recent run of U.S. tour dates. He also confirmed that he indeed has plans to release more new music before year’s end.
